The Hanteo Chart Official First Week Sales Certification Plaque is a plaque that commemorates the official record based on the first week sales of albums compiled by Hanteo Chart, a real-time comprehensive music chart. It has contributed to raising the status and credibility of Hanteo Chart.

Types of Certification Plaques

• 1. New Record Certification Plaque
  – Male/Female/Coed Group Category
  – Male/Female Solo Category

-> The plaque is awarded to artists who set new first-week sales records in the male, female, coed group, and male and female solo categories

• 2. Certification Plaques by Level (Sales)
  • 1st Step: 100,000 copies
  • 2nd Step: 200,000 copies
  • 3rd Step: 500,000 copies
  • 4th Step: 1,000,000 copies

Hanteo Chart Official First Week Sales Certification Plaque Suspension and Reason

Hanteo Chart decided to stop issuing certification plaques from January 1, 2023.

The reason for the suspension of certification plaque issuance was that there were criticisms that the certification plaque was being used as a means to exaggerate album sales.

In other words, since the certification plaque is awarded based on ‘first-week sales’, there were criticisms that the album sales were exaggerated in the early stages in order to receive the certification plaque for the artists they support. Hanteo Chart decided to suspend the issuance of certification plaques in order to raise the credibility of album sales.

Since 2023, Hanteo Chart has been awarding a Hanteo Chart First Week Record Badge on each artist’s page.
